Pantone Colors of the Year 2016

Art on Trend

Los Angeles based visual artist, Jennifer Rae Ochs, recently completed her Luminance Series, which echoes Pantone’s 2016 Colors of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. One step ahead of Pantone, the world’s authority on color, Ochs actually created the paintings before the official announcement from Pantone in December, 2015.

This is the first time two colors have been combined as Color of the Year. The combination of the cool toned, light blue Serenity, and the warm toned, blush pink Rose Quartz brings a sense of balance to carry through the year and beyond. It’s no wonder that both pastel hues have been seen everywhere from fashion runways to interior design showrooms to fine art this year, as we see in Ochs’ work.

“I check the canvas for a pulse and dig the vibrations.” – Artist, Jennifer Rae Ochs

jennifer rae ochs artist painting interior designJennifer Rae Ochs hails from Minneapolis, and resides in Los Angeles. She borrowed from her training as a classical pianist in developing her discipline as a visual artist. As a young adult, Ochs began to experiment with sculpture, photography and mixed media. Painting with acrylics / mixed media rapidly emerged as her favorite form of expression.

From Jennifer: “My work is a celebration of moments in time. I revel in conflict amid conviction. Resolution is found in the creative process. Texture becomes solution, color stages revolution. Raw emotion invites me to the canvas. Strokes are felt long after the brush is laid to rest. I check the canvas for a pulse and dig the vibrations.”
